A tale about rescuing a very battered MK1 Sq4 or not as the case may be. This is likely to be a very drawn out affair ending in a beautiful bike or in a case of madness; time will tell.

Here it as at March 2021 roughed together after sitting for lots of years on my garage floor. Oh dear no gearbox or timing gears, that may kill it before it starts.!

About ten years back I decided that to clean out the shed a bit I could add all the loose bits into one bike which although creating a Frankenbike, would at least assemble all the bits into one place. After that I had no idea what I would do with it! Well it took much longer than expected in part because although one had a part like a footrest, it may or may not have been Ariel and even then it may or may not be the right one for the frame so much had to be modified which of course takes a lot of time. Anyway today, seventh November 2019, it came off the bike table and an attempt was made to start it. At first no luck but then found not enough petrol was in the tank to actually reach the carburettor. I did not want to put too much in in case the tank leaked or had to come off but it does need some petrol as I found out! Anyway after five or six kicks with petrol we had life! There is a strange (can’t be me) fat guy kicking it over a tiny wee bike and even he was finding the compression a bit much being used to the old side valve Ariel. Anyway we managed to film the moment! Graeme

If you set yourself up as a member on this web site, you are probably set to be able to create a blog. To do this ignore the "Create a post" button on this page (appears if you signed in already but so far cannot find how to make this active), instead go to the Main Menu MEMBERS section & scroll to your membership box and double click on it to open it (if not signed in already enter email and password). Once open you will see that in the POSTS Section there is a "Create Post" link which will open a blog page for you and when posted it will appear in the general Blogs section. Otherwise, to add to this page please contact the Club president. We would love to hear from you. Note that unfortunately we had to remove the email of the committee due to spam.
