Recently the Italian vintage car club re-created the ISDN race of 1914 which was approximately a 2300km race around Italy over 9 days. To participate in the re-creation riders were required to be riding a marque that took place in the original race 100 years ago. The original race was won by an Ariel ridden by an Italian rider. The recreation involved 55 bikes ranging from the 1920's through to the 1950's. Most were Ariels as the re-creation was in fact run by the Ariel club of Italy. The picture is the starting of the rally near Milano. There was one NZ Ariel club member (the president) in the mix on a 1956 Huntmaster. It was hot so one Huntmaster decided to cool off.
